Brazilian born ballerina, LÚCIA TRISTÃO, came to New York in the 1970’s
on an American Ballet Theatre scholarship. Until she retired, she remained an
 international performer with an occasional nod – toe – on Broadway and guest
 appearances at Radio City Music Hall.
   Incorporating her artistic talent, she apprenticed at major fashion houses such
as Valentino’s, while at home, she focused her designing talent on apparel for
her adorable dog, Nijinsky. Outfitted in her designs, strolling in Central Park or
along Fifth Avenue, Nijinsky, like his namesake, caused a stir and began getting
a lot of attention. And so – LÚCIA ’s second career commenced. And, in 2000, 
proudly CARANGOLA* NEW YORK, fashion custom for the Pet Set, was
founded.
   As a dog lover, LÚCIA, was well aware of a pet’s needs – safety in
construction and comfort – yet, as a fashionably clad ballerina, she recognized
an owner’s desire for up-to-the-moment chic and design. With these 
requirements in mind, she then added matching modes of transportation –
carriers and accessories.
   Now, CARANGOLA is pleased to present its unique, always original, custom-
